THE STORY BEHIND OUR WOOD
From Brunei's Forests, Brunei Handmade
Kulim Papa Wood
This is made from Kulim Papa wood. Every piece of our chopping board begins with locally sourced Brunei timber and is carefully handcrafted by local makers. Kulim Papa is a locally known Brunei timber traditionally used by local craftsmen for various woodwork applications. Its natural grain and individual markings give each piece its own character. Because the wood is a natural material, no two chopping boards will look exactly alike. What makes it special: A piece of locally sourced timber transformed by hand into something practical for everyday use.
Meranti Wood
This chopping board made from Meranti wood. Meranti is one of the recognised timber groups found within the region and is also listed by Brunei's Forestry Department among the timber species available through local timber products. Meranti is used for a variety of wood products and furniture applications. Its warm natural appearance and attractive grain make it a popular choice for handcrafted wooden products. What makes it special: A familiar regional timber with a natural beauty that works beautifully in both traditional and contemporary craftsmanship.
Sipetir Wood
This chopping board is made from Sipetir wood. Si Petir is another locally known timber used by local craftsmen. Its natural colour, grain and markings become part of the character of each handmade piece. Rather than looking perfectly uniform like manufactured materials, natural timber carries its own variations — making every board slightly different. What makes it special: The individuality of the timber means every handmade board has its own natural story.
