Conceived through a process of design-led thinking, the Sora lamp asks the question: What does weightlessness look like when it holds light?The Sora 3D printed lamp takes a deep look at the characteristics of the elusive jellyfish. Known as “Dikya” in Tagalog, these creatures are often found in coastal areas where interactions with divers, surfers, and tourists are common but often fleeting. What drew our designers to the creature's form was its ability to receive and surrender to its environment completely, without resistance. Translating that quality into a physical object demanded a process with equal sensitivity. 3D printing was the medium that could hold what made the form worth pursuing across rounds of physical iteration.Sora translates the jellyfish’s form into a luminescent statement lighting that moves between standing out and blending in.
