Vaigai's Journey From Container to Nationwide
Vaigai began with a simple observation—and a real problem.
In Bournemouth, access to authentic Indian groceries was limited.
Most available products were adapted to local tastes, not true Indian flavours.
For the Indian community, this meant:
- Paying high prices for limited options, or
- Travelling nearly 100 miles to London just to stock up
That didn’t sit right with us.
The Beginning (2020)
In July 2020, Vaigai Ltd started from a small container storage setup.
There was no store. No big system.
Just a mission—and a growing need.
We delivered fresh fruits and vegetables twice a week, with customers placing orders through a simple Google Form.
It was small. But it mattered.
Building Trust, Step by Step
As customers trusted us more, we expanded:
- Rice
- Atta
- Essential monthly groceries
What started as a side solution quickly became a reliable supply line for many households.
Taking the Leap (2021)
In April 2021, we opened our first store in Bournemouth town centre.
But we didn’t just want to open a store.
We set a bold goal:

The Challenge
This goal came with real obstacles:
- Supply chain limitations
- Logistics constraints
- Higher operational costs outside London
But instead of stepping back—we improved.
Every year, we:
- Strengthened sourcing
- Optimised logistics
- Expanded product range
Where We Stand Today
Today, Vaigai:
- Offers 200+ brands, including native Indian products
- Serves customers across the UK and Channel Islands
- Has expanded into Jersey
- Is now growing into Leicester
Most importantly, we’ve brought authentic Indian flavours closer to home.
