White Algeria originates from Algeria, a country along the Mediterranean coast of North Africa. It likely traces back centuries, selected from local landraces cultivated in arid to semi-arid regions. The White Algeria fig is a beautiful, honey-sweet variety with pale skin and amber-pink flesh. this fig thrives in hot, dry, and coastal Mediterranean climates. Fruit Characteristics --------------------- Skin Color: Pale yellow-green to creamy white when ripe; sometimes develops a light golden blush in full sun Flesh Color: Amber to light strawberry-pink interior Size: Medium to large (40–70 grams) Shape: Rounded to oblong, often slightly flattened at the base Flavor: Very sweet, honey-like, often with mild fig and melon notes; low acidity Texture: Smooth, juicy pulp with thin skin and soft seeds Aroma: Delicate, fruity scent when ripe Sugar Content: High Brix when fully ripened on the tree Split Resistance: Moderate; can split in very wet conditions due to thin skin Growing Tips ------------ Prefers full sun (at least 6–8 hours daily) Needs well-drained soil Water once or twice daily Fertilise it weekly (Try some of our recommended fertilisers)

The Barbara Perretta fig is named after Barbara Perretta of New York, USA, who preserved this cultivar from an old fig tree that was reportedly grown by her Italian immigrant family. It was later shared with fig collectors and became known through the wider community of hobbyist growers, particularly in the United States. Although not widely available in commercial nurseries, it has gained popularity in fig collector circles for its exceptional color, appearance, and flavor.The Barbara Perretta fig is a rare and beautiful heirloom variety with dark purple skin, blood-red flesh, and rich berry flavor. It's highly regarded among fig enthusiasts for its taste, visual appeal, and heritage value. Best suited to warm, dry climates, it performs well in containers and small gardens where care can be taken to ensure optimal ripening conditions.
