Jom Teh Tarik's Story

Fayiz didn’t start from scratch. He grew up around it.

In the early 2000s, his father ran a teh tarik stall at Geylang Serai for many years, the kind of place filled with conversation, familiar faces and that unmistakable kampong energy.

That was where Fayiz first learned the craft. By watching, helping and understanding what went into every cup.

When his father retired, the stall closed and the family business disappeared for the next 10 years.

Then, at 24, Fayiz made the decision to bring it back.

Together with his brothers, he revived the family legacy as Jom Teh Tarik. They didn’t begin with a shop. They started small, serving at events, bazaars and pop-ups such as MakBesar, Twilight and CelebFest.

Along the way, Fayiz noticed something.

While events were filled with cold, modern and fusion drinks, very few vendors were serving freshly pulled hot teh tarik. So Jom Teh Tarik leaned into what it knew best and people noticed.

That demand became the signal to grow.

From events, the business expanded into home-based bulk orders, Teh Tarik Box deliveries and eventually teh tarik live stations, where every cup is freshly prepared in front of the customer.

It became more than just a drink. It became part of the experience.

Behind the scenes, Fayiz remained focused on one thing: quality. He developed Jom Teh Tarik’s own tea blend and continued refining it to achieve the flavour and consistency customers could recognise at every event.

Today, Jom Teh Tarik has served hundreds of events, operates live stations every month and continues to work with partners who return year after year.

But for Fayiz and his brothers, this has never been only about selling drinks.

It is about bringing back a craft, preserving a culture and continuing a family legacy one cup at a time, for the next generation.
