FAQ

Q1: What is the Ashtadasa Ayurvedic Hairoil?
A: It’s our signature handcrafted hair oil made using a slow, cold-infusion method over 6+ weeks. “Ashtadasa” means 18 in Sanskrit — the oil is infused with 18 Ayurvedic herbs that nourish the scalp, strengthen roots, reduce hair fall, and support natural hair growth.

Q2: What is the infusion method used?
A: Our oil is made using a cold-infusion technique inspired by Ayurvedic Hima Kalpana. Herbs are slowly steeped in oils over 6+ weeks, without any heat, to preserve their nutrients and natural energetics.

Q3: What herbs are used in this oil?
A: Our formula includes 18 herbs and botanicals such as:
Virgin Coconut Oil & Extra Virgin Olive Oil (base oils)
Amla, Vetiver Root, Licorice, Nigella Seeds, Rose Petals,White Turmeric, Fenugreek, Sweet Flag, Curry Leaves,Bakuchi Seeds, Senna Flowers & Leaves, Henna Seeds, Myrobalan,Coleus Vettiveroides (Vilamichai Ver), Alkanet, Bakul Flowers

Each ingredient is chosen for its role in boosting scalp health, hair strength, and overall vitality.

Q4: What makes this oil different from regular hair oils?
A: Unlike commercial oils, ours is free from mineral oils, silicones, and synthetic fragrances. It's cold-infused, not boiled, which helps retain the delicate properties of each herb. Every batch is handmade in Singapore using only pure, plant-based ingredients.

Q5: Is it suitable for coloured or chemically treated hair?
A: Yes — the oil is gentle, non-stripping, lightweight and deeply nourishing. It works well for colour-treated, permed, or damaged hair.

Q6: Does the oil contain any artificial fragrance or essential oils?
A: We do not use any synthetic fragrances in our products. The natural scent of our oil comes from the herbs, flowers, and a touch of pure essential oils — selected specifically for their proven scalp and hair benefits, not just aroma.

Every essential oil used is 100% natural and added in safe, balanced concentrations to support healthy scalp function, soothe irritation, and enhance absorption — without overpowering your senses.

Q7: Which Ashtadasa Ayurvedic Hairoil variant is best for my scalp type?

Original (Unscented)
Best for: Sensitive scalps, dry scalps, and those who prefer no added fragrance.
Why: This pure, herbal-infused oil is gentle and soothing, ideal if your scalp is prone to irritation or if you’re sensitive to essential oils.

Lavender Variant
Best for: Normal to dry scalps needing calming care and mild hydration.
Why: Lavender essential oil is known for its soothing, anti-inflammatory properties, helping reduce itchiness and promote relaxation while nourishing hair roots.

Peppermint Variant
Best for: Oily or itchy scalps needing a refreshing, cooling effect.
Why: Peppermint essential oil stimulates circulation and provides a cooling sensation, which can help balance oil production and invigorate the scalp.

Q8: Are these variants safe for pregnant women and children?
A: Yes, with some important considerations:

The Original (Unscented) and Lavender variants are generally safe for pregnant women and children above 2 years old.

The Peppermint variant is not recommended for pregnant women or children under 6 years old.

We recommend always doing a patch test before use and consulting a healthcare professional if you have any concerns.

Q9: How do I use the oil?
A: For best results, warm the oil slightly using the double boiling method (place the oil bottle in a bowl of warm water for a few minutes — do not microwave).

-Use it as a pre-shampoo hair treatment:
-Apply the warm oil to your scalp and hair.
-Massage gently for 3–5 minutes to stimulate circulation.
-Leave it on for at least 1 hour.
-Wash off with a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo.

You can also use a few drops post-shampoo on damp hair to reduce frizz and add natural shine — especially on the ends.

Q10: How often should I oil my hair?
A: 1–2 times per week works well for most. Adjust based on your scalp needs, lifestyle, or seasonal changes.

Q11: When will I start seeing results?
A: Many users notice less hair fall, smoother texture, and new baby hair growth within 4–8 weeks of regular use. Ayurvedic oils work best with consistent, mindful care.

Q12: What is the shelf life of the Ashtadasa Ayurvedic Hairoil?
A: You can refer to the expiry date printed on the product label for exact details.
Once opened, we recommend using the oil within 6–8 months for best freshness and effectiveness. Since our oils are 100% natural with no synthetic preservatives, please store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
