NT Labs Aquarium Filter Starter is a live culture of highly effective, "friendly" filter bacteria designed to rapidly establish biological filtration and prevent the buildup of toxic fish waste. By introducing a robust blend of essential bacterial strains, this treatment helps "kick-start" the nitrogen cycle, neutralizing toxic ammonia and nitrite by converting them into safer nitrates.
This fast-acting formula is ideal for preventing New Tank Syndrome in fresh setups, managing biological disruptions after filter maintenance, and supporting a healthy aquatic ecosystem in both coldwater and tropical aquariums.
Key Product Highlights:
Active Bacterial Strains: Formulated with a specialized blend including Bacillus megaterium, B. pumilis, B. licheniformis, Paenibacillus polymyxa, Nitrosomonas spp., Nitrobacter spp., and Nitrospira spp..
Water Safety: Efficiently breaks down fish waste to eliminate toxic ammonia spikes and nitrite accumulation.
Versatile Applications: Crucial for starting new aquariums, adding new fish, supplementing after a filter clean or water change, or re-establishing biological filtration following disease treatments.
Compatibility: Fully safe for live plants, shrimp, existing filter populations, tropical setups, and coldwater aquariums.
Usage & Dosage Instructions
To safely dose your aquarium, determine your total water volume and follow these guidelines:
Dosage Rate: Add 10ml per 50 litres of aquarium water.
Volume Calculation: Calculate your tank volume in litres using the formula:
Length x Width x Depth / 1000. Alternatively, use the official NT Labs Online Dosage Calculator.
Application: Shake the bottle thoroughly before use. Pour the measured dose directly into the aquarium water, preferably near the filter inlet or an area with high water movement.
Frequency: For brand new aquarium setups, repeat the dose weekly for 4 weeks. For mature tanks, add a single dose immediately after every water change or filter maintenance session.
