The L37 Pleco, scientifically known as Hypostomus faveolus, is a beautifully patterned suckermouth catfish highly prized for its unique, reticulated honeycomb or tortoise-shell markings. Native to the Rio Tocantins and Rio Araguaia basins in Brazil, this peaceful, hardy species is an excellent addition to mid-to-large-sized freshwater community aquariums.

Diet and Nutrition
The L37 Pleco is an unfussy omnivore. To maintain optimal health, provide a varied diet including:
Sinking catfish pellets, tablets, and algae wafers.
Blanched vegetables such as zucchini, cucumber, kale, and spinach.
Occasional protein-rich treats like frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, and Mysis shrimp.
Driftwood inside the aquarium, which provides essential dietary fibre as they rasp on it.
Tank Environment & Behavior
High Filtration: Adult L37 plecos produce a significant amount of waste, requiring a powerful filtration system and regular partial water changes.
Flow & Oxygenation: They prefer well-oxygenated water with a moderate current to simulate their natural riverine habitats.
Hiding Spaces: Ensure your aquascape includes plenty of shaded retreats, rocky caves, and sturdy bogwood structures. Secure the decor well, as larger fish can be slightly clumsy.
Temperament: Exceptionally peaceful and shy, they easily get along with other non-aggressive community tank mates.
