The Longfin Philippine Blue Angelfish is a prized designer variety of the freshwater angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare), known for its striking iridescent blue metallic sheen and exceptionally long, flowing fins.

Key Characteristics
Genetics: This strain features the "Philippine Blue" (pb) gene, which was first isolated and developed by breeder Kenneth Kennedy.
Coloration: Adults display a vivid metallic blue or turquoise sheen that intensifies under quality aquarium lighting.
Longfin Variation: Unlike standard fins, the "Longfin" or "Veil" variant has significantly elongated dorsal, anal, and caudal fins that create a graceful, trailing effect as they swim.
Size: They typically grow to about 6 inches (15 cm) in length but can reach 8 inches (20 cm) or more in height due to their vertical fin profile.

Care and Tank Requirements
Tank Size: A minimum of 30 gallons is recommended for a single fish or pair, though a larger, taller tank (at least 18 inches high) is better to accommodate their long fins.
Water Conditions:
Temperature: 26°C to 30°C (78°F to 86°F).
pH: 6.5 to 7.5.
Environment: They prefer heavily planted tanks which provide cover and make them feel secure.
Diet: Omnivorous; they thrive on a variety of high-quality flakes, pellets, and frozen or live foods like brine shrimp and bloodworms.
Temperament: Generally peaceful but can become territorial during spawning. Avoid housing them with "fin-nippers" like Tiger Barbs, which may damage their delicate long fins.
