It is a tiny fish, typically growing to around 1 inch (2.5 cm) in length, making it an excellent choice for nano tanks or small aquariums. Kubotai Rasboras are known for their vibrant red-orange coloration, especially on the body and tail, with a contrasting black marking on the upper part of their bodies. Their small size and attractive color make them popular among aquarium enthusiasts.
These fish are peaceful, social creatures that prefer to live in groups, and they do best when kept in schools of at least six individuals. They are generally active swimmers but tend to stay near the bottom and mid-level of the aquarium. Kubotai Rasboras are omnivores, and they will happily consume a variety of foods such as high-quality flake foods, micro-pellets, live or frozen foods like daphnia, and tiny invertebrates.
A well-planted tank with plenty of hiding spots is ideal, as it mimics their natural habitat. They enjoy slightly acidic to neutral water (pH 5.5–7.5), with a temperature range of 72–80°F (22–27°C).These fish are peaceful and will do well with other small, non-aggressive fish. They can be kept with other species like microfish, tetras, and small shrimp.
Being from soft water regions, they prefer softer water (hardness between 2–15 dGH). Regular water changes and a filtration system are essential for maintaining their health.
