195 Pearl Hill Café (195PHC) is the anchor tenant and only food establishment located in 195 Pearl’s Hill Terrace, a gazetted URA conservation building1 due to its rich heritage2 and one of the few remaining pre-WWII structures still in existence in Singapore today. This historical building has now been transformed into an artistic, hipster space containing hidden treasures and gems such as vibrant start-ups, boutique studios and workshop spaces, amidst others! Pearl’s Hill Terrace is hidden atop a hill as its name suggests; just above the bustling streets of Chinatown, and behind People’s Park Food Centre.
195PHC isn’t simply a café; it is a community and heritage aggregator. It has incubated, and is home to four home-grown brands with their respective illustrious histories:
1) Tiong Bahru Satay (heritage Hainanese-style pork satay with peanut and pineapple sauce);
2) Chef L (Italian fare included thin-crust pizzas, pastas, and salads made by a former Les Amis chef);
3) Rickshaw Coffee (Nanyang-style caffeine brews marrying traditional kopitiam beverages with contemporary styles); and
4) The Attic Fox (a homegrown bottled-on-demand cocktail and mocktail mixology offering as a complement to food)
195PHC's about staying true to our heritage – where we acknowledge that where we are today stems from our beliefs and values passed down from ancestry and the people who journeyed through life before we did. 傳承不守旧 ,创新不忘本。
