🔴 FRIDAY, 1ST MAY 2026: LABOUR DAY HIKE〽️
Found in Kenya’s Great Rift Valley, Mount Longonot National Park is renowned for its dramatic dormant stratovolcano, Mount Longonot, which towers at 2,780 meters above sea level. Spanning roughly 52 square kilometers, the park captivates visitors with its rugged terrain, steep slopes, and vast crater.
The park’s highlight is the Ngamia summit (2,780m ASL), a challenging yet rewarding adventure. The trail begins at the main gate, winding through dense acacia woodland before ascending the mountain’s sharp inclines. At the crater rim, hikers are greeted with a sweeping view of the Rift Valley, Lake Naivasha, and the surrounding plains.
The crater itself is immense, measuring about 1.8 kilometers across, and shelters a lush forest within its basin. Along the way, wildlife sightings add to the thrill: zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, and an array of bird species such as red-winged starlings and Hildebrandt’s spurfowls.
A favorite destination for day trips and nature enthusiasts, Mount Longonot National Park offers a perfect blend of scenic beauty, adventure, and unforgettable views, an experience that embodies an epic adventure in Kenya.
