About the Wine:
In 1982, San Felice purchased the wine estate of CAMPOGIOVANNI in Montalcino, comprised of 20 hectares on the southern slope of that wine zone, and began producing Brunello.
With the 1990 vintage, Campogiovanni entered the ranks of the elite of Montalcino by winning 7th place in the Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines of the World.
Tasting Notes:
Woodland-berry, fragrant blue-flower, wild-herb and new leather aromas lead the nose. Fresh and savory, the smooth accessible palate doles out raspberry compote, juicy Marasca cherry and licorice framed in polished tannins. This beautifully balanced Rosso di Montalcino , matured 12 months in Slavonian oak casks.
"A textbook Sangiovese, offering cherry, leather, earth and wild herb flavors that fade into light, dusty tannins.” – BS of Wine Spectator
