Maxitrol Eye Drop(neodex)

Maxitrol is an ophthalmic solution that combines neomycin, polymyxin B, and dexamethasone. It is primarily used to treat inflammatory conditions of the eye where bacterial infections are also a concern. The formulation is designed to provide both anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects.

Key Ingredients
- Neomycin Sulfate: An antibiotic that helps prevent and treat bacterial infections.
- Polymyxin B Sulfate: Another antibiotic that works synergistically with neomycin to combat a broader range of bacteria.
- Dexamethasone: A corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, redness, and swelling in the eye.

Indications
Maxitrol is indicated for:
- Short-term treatment of steroid-responsive conditions of the eye when prophylactic antibiotic treatment is required.
- Post-operative care to prevent infection and manage inflammation after eye surgeries.

Dosage and Administration
- Recommended Dosage:
- For adults and children over 2 years: 1 to 2 drops in the affected eye(s) up to 4 to 6 times daily. In severe cases, it may be used hourly, tapering off as the condition improves.
- It is important not to exceed a total of 20 mL in the initial prescription without further evaluation.

Application Instructions:
1. Wash your hands thoroughly before use.
2. Shake the bottle gently before each use.
3. Tilt your head back and pull down your lower eyelid to create a pocket.
4. Hold the bottle upside down and place one or two drops into the pocket without touching the eye or eyelid with the dropper tip.
5. Close your eyes gently and press on the inner corner of your eye for about 1-2 minutes to help absorption.
