Enemax Solution

Enemax is a saline enema solution used primarily for the treatment of occasional constipation and to prepare the bowel for surgical procedures or diagnostic tests such as colonoscopy. It is a hyperosmotic solution that helps draw water into the intestines, promoting bowel movements.

Key Features
- Formulation: Each 120ml bottle of Enemax contains:
- Disodium Phosphate: 6 mg
- Monosodium Phosphate: 16 mg
- Type of Product: This product is classified as a prescription medicine and is typically used under the guidance of a healthcare professional.

Indications
Enemax is indicated for:
- Constipation Relief: Provides effective relief from occasional constipation by facilitating bowel movements.
- Bowel Preparation: Used before surgical procedures or diagnostic imaging to clear the bowel.

Mechanism of Action
Enemax works by increasing the osmotic pressure within the intestines, which draws fluid into the bowel. This increase in fluid volume stimulates peristalsis (the wave-like muscle contractions that move food through the digestive tract), leading to a bowel movement.

Dosage and Administration
- Recommended Dosage: The typical dosage for adults and children over 12 years is usually one bottle (120 ml). For children aged 2 to under 12 years, half a bottle may be recommended.
- Administration Instructions:
- Ensure the patient is in a comfortable position, typically lying on their left side.
- Remove the protective cap from the enema tip.
- Gently insert the tip into the rectum and squeeze the bottle to administer the solution.
- Maintain the position until there is a strong urge to evacuate, usually within 1 to 5 minutes.

Precautions
- Contraindications: Do not use Enemax if you have:
- Severe abdominal pain or nausea.
- Rectal bleeding or failure to have a bowel movement after use.
- Medical History: Consult with a healthcare provider if you have kidney disease, are on a low-salt diet, or have any other medical conditions that may contraindicate its use.

Possible side effects may include:
- Abdominal cramping or discomfort.
- Nausea or vomiting.
- Rectal irritation or bleeding (if used improperly).
If severe reactions occur, discontinue use immediately and seek medical attention.
