Apcalis is a medication that contains tadalafil, which is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor. It is primarily used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men and can also be used to alleviate symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Tadalafil works by increasing blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation, helping to achieve and maintain an erection.
Composition:
- Each tablet contains 20 mg of tadalafil.
Indications
Apcalis is indicated for:
- Erectile Dysfunction (ED): Treatment of impotence in adult men.
- Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH): Relief of urinary symptoms associated with an enlarged prostate.
- Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension: Sometimes used off-label for this condition.
Dosage
- For Erectile Dysfunction:
- The usual starting dose is 20 mg, taken at least 30 minutes before sexual activity. The effects can last up to 36 hours, allowing for greater spontaneity in sexual activity. Do not take more than one tablet in a 24-hour period.
- For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia:
- The recommended dose is typically 5 mg once daily, taken at the same time each day, regardless of sexual activity.
Administration
- How to Take: Swallow the tablet whole with water. It can be taken with or without food, but taking it with a high-fat meal may delay its onset of action.
- Missed Dose: If you are taking it daily for BPH and miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not double up.
