Focus of Intermediate Lessons
At this stage, the lessons go beyond the basics of standing up and riding in a straight line. The focus usually includes:
• Wave selection – understanding how to read the ocean and pick the right waves.
• Positioning and timing – learning where to sit in the lineup and when to paddle.
• Paddling technique – improving efficiency and endurance.
• Angle takeoffs – catching waves at an angle to ride along the face, not just straight toward the shore.
• Turns and maneuvers – practicing bottom turns, cutbacks, and trimming for speed.
• Etiquette and safety – handling crowded lineups and respecting surf rules.
