Supersprout Red Corn is our favorite red field corn variety for homemade grits and corn meal. This improved version of the Bloody Butcher variety produces beautiful dark red ears. Heirloom and open-pollinated. 85/110 days to maturity. Zea mays.
Supersprout Red corn should be planted in the spring after the last frost date. Corn can be grown throughout the warmer months up until fall, as long as time is permitted for harvest before first frost. Succession planting is recommended with at least two plantings, one in early spring and one in late summer/early fall.
