Ponni

Ponni rice is the result of crossbreeding two traditional rice varieties, one of whose parents is Khichadi Samba rice. Ponni Rice is a white rice variety of Tamil Nadu. The grains are slender, long and dull white in colour. This semi-polished parboiled rice contains 20-25% bran and has good cooking qualities. It can be used for daily consumption and goes well with South Indian curries and gravies.
