The Olaplex range consists of a 7-step process of products that help to repair damaged bonds in the hair. This damage could be from the use of heat/styling products, or chemical damage – from colouring or bleaching. Olaplex restores damaged hair, and Olaplex No.3 is a product to use before, during, or after a colour treatment. This helps to re-strengthen hair, which is why I’m using it!
How I Applied Olaplex No.3
The Olaplex No.3 Hair Perfector is an at-home, pre-wash treatment, so you’d use it before shampooing. As stated on the back of the bottle, it’s NOT a conditioner, it’s a bond builder. Ideally, this treatment should be applied onto clean hair, but if you have a lot of product build-up (styling products, hairspray, dry shampoo), then it’s a good idea to wash these out first. If your hair is clean and product-free, you can apply it straight onto damp hair.
You may be wondering what steps 1 and 2 are for, and these treatments are for use in salons. I don’t think you can buy these to use at home, but steps 3-7 you can! I used the Olaplex No.3 on its own, without any of the other steps. As my hair isn’t too damaged at the moment, I’ve decided to use it once a week. You can use it 2-3 times per week, if your hair is severely damaged.
-Apply on damp, towel-dried hair.
-Apply a generous amount from scalp to end, until hair is thoroughly saturated.
-Leave on for a minimum of 10 minutes – longer if desired.
-Rinse from hair, then shampoo and condition as usual.
