Known as Koromiko by the Maori. Decoction of leaves used for ulcers and venereal disease. Astringent, for dysentery etc. Used for diarrhoea, dysentery. 'Bushmen troubled with English cholera frequently cure the disease by chewing fresh leaves of the plant and swallowing the juice - but usually the drug is taken in the form of an infusion.
