π The problem-based learning approach has become a common mode of teaching in medical schools worldwide. In pharmacology, this approach helps students in correlating the basic concepts with their applications in actual clinical situations. This book aims to provide relevant subject material for students to enhance their learning and for teachers to be able to enforce learning of pharmacology with clinical relevance.
π This PBQ Workbook on Cardiovascular Pharmacology is the first in a series of pharmacology
PBQ books to be published by the Faculty of Medicine of UiTM. This edition was contributed by 7 authors and includes chapters on Hypertension, Congestive Cardiac Failure, Myocardial Infarction, Arrhythmias, Angina Pectoris, Hyperlipoproteinemia and Infective Endocarditis.
π Each chapter has a standard format opening with case histories, followed by sections on drug therapy and questions related to the drug's mechanism of action, relevant pharmacokinetics, adverse effects and drug interactions. Answers to questions are provided with explanatory background at the end of each chapter.
π The collection of PBQ presented in this book can be utilized in traditional ways for self-assessment and revision, but should not be regarded as stand-alone teaching aids. Students should first read appropriate chapters of a pharmacology textbook prior to working through these questions.
π The book will also be useful in providing ideas and material to teachers and examiners.
