Starting Dosing: Starting doses range from 0.5–2.5 mg weekly, with gradual increases to 8–12 mg or higher in clinical trials, depending on tolerance and goals.
Reconstitution:
For a 20mg vial, add 1–2 mL of bacteriostatic water to achieve a desired concentration:
1 mL water = 20 mg/mL (5 units = 1 mg on a 100-unit insulin syringe).
2 mL water = 10 mg/mL (10 units = 1 mg).
Use a sterile syringe to inject water slowly along the vial wall. Gently swirl (don’t shake) to dissolve. Store reconstituted solution at 2–8°C, protected from light, and use within 30 days.
Administration: Subcutaneous injection, typically weekly, using insulin syringes. Rotate sites (e.g., abdomen, thigh) to avoid irritation.
