Kamoto (鹿本) district in Kumamoto prefecture is where the cultivation of Earl's Melon, said to be the King of Melons is made.
Earl's Muskmelon produced there are rich with flavour and sweetness due to the constant nutrients and minerals provided by the Pacific Ocean. They are also popularly known for the melt-in-your-mouth texture when ripen, and slightly higher sugar content level.
