Cobalt Cichlid

Cobalt Cichlid

The Cobalt Cichlid (Hypsophrys nicaraguensis) is a striking freshwater fish native to Central America. Known for its vibrant blue or cobalt coloration, it typically grows to about 6-8 inches in length. Cobalt Cichlids are semi-aggressive and thrive in warm, slightly acidic water, requiring a tank of at least 30-55 gallons. They are omnivores, eating a mix of pellets, live foods, and vegetables. While not as aggressive as some other cichlids, they can be territorial, especially during breeding. Cobalt Cichlids are ideal for experienced aquarium keepers who can manage their space and temperament.
