Common Bristlenose Pleco

Common Bristlenose Pleco

The Common Bristlenose Pleco (Ancistrus cirrhosus) is a small, hardy freshwater fish known for its unique, bristle-like appendages on the male's snout. Typically growing to 4-6 inches (10-15 cm), it has a dark brown or gray body with light spots or a mottled pattern, making it an excellent algae eater. This pleco is peaceful and nocturnal, often hiding during the day and becoming more active at night. It thrives in warm, slightly acidic to neutral water and prefers a tank with plenty of hiding spots and driftwood. It is popular in community aquariums for its algae control and peaceful nature.
