GMO Danio Tetra Mix

GMO Danio Tetra Mix

The GMO Danio Tetra is a genetically modified version of the Danio species, often altered to exhibit fluorescent or vibrant colors not seen in natural varieties. Typically, these fish are engineered to glow under ultraviolet (UV) light, with colors such as bright green, pink, or orange. This glowing trait is due to the insertion of genes from bioluminescent organisms like jellyfish or coral.

These genetically modified fish are typically smaller, with the size and active nature similar to wild Danios. They are social, peaceful fish that thrive in schools and are often kept in freshwater aquariums. Despite their modified appearance, GMO Danio Tetras share the same care requirements as their natural counterparts, preferring slightly acidic to neutral water, a temperature range of 70°F–82°F (21°C–28°C), and a well-planted tank.

Ethical concerns have been raised regarding the introduction of genetically modified organisms in the aquarium trade, as these fish may pose environmental risks if released into non-native ecosystems.
