The Costae Tetra (also known as Hyphessobrycon costae) is a small, colorful freshwater fish native to South America, particularly found in rivers and streams of the Amazon Basin. It is known for its striking appearance, with a translucent, silvery body and bright orange to red coloration around the fins, especially in males. These fish typically grow to about 2 to 3 inches (5 to 7 cm) in length.
Costae Tetras are peaceful, social fish that thrive in groups, making them ideal for community aquariums. They prefer slightly acidic to neutral water and enjoy environments with plenty of plants and hiding spots. Their vibrant colors and active nature make them a popular choice for aquariums, and they do well in warm water temperatures between 74°F and 82°F (23°C–28°C). They are generally easy to care for and adapt well to a variety of tank conditions.
