West Java soil is a magical ecosystem. It has the ability to mirror the friendliness and cordiality of its people. It’s so good that whatever you plant, thrives beautifully. That is the story of this Yellow Catuai varietal—a unique coffee varietal whose cherries turns yellow when they are ripe.
Yellow Catuai originated in Brazil in 1949 as a hybrid cross between the yellow Caturra and Mundo Novo varieties, developed by the Instituto Agronômico do Campinas (IAC). Released to the public in 1972, it was bred for its dwarf size, high yield, and productivity, becoming a popular and widely planted coffee variety in Brazil and other parts of the world. The name "Catuai" comes from the Tupi-Guarani language, meaning "very good".
This time, Healthy Harvest—who supplied us with Jayagiri Typica—did another great job of cultivating and processing this coffee. They grew a foreign coffee varietal in Indonesia, picked only the ripe cherries, and dried them naturally to unleash its full potential.
The result? This coffee offers spices and sweet aromatic after it’s ground. Then, it will fill your mouth with a piquant, citrusy acidity while leaving floral notes after you swallow it. There is so much to this coffee that we’re excited to share with you. That’s why we’re putting an Indonesian price tag on it. Hope it brings joy to your cup.
