There were three big bonuses for me, 1. Josh excels in his explanations, 2. He’s wonderfully funny, actually made me laugh out loud, and 3. What a joy it was to do this course even with 5 years under my belt in web design, there were still some gold nuggets I got from this course. I highly recommend this as a yearly refresh for all designers to remind us of the correct principles and to brake any bad habits we tend to fall into over time. I researched a lot before I invested in a web design course. Here’s the thing, there is SO much out there, it gets overwhelming. I wanted something organized, easy to understand, yet something where I could learn a LOT from and implement into my current projects. I was able to do all of that and MORE! I always thought that I just have an Eye for design until I had this one client who was very difficult – I had to change the design again and again…I was very frustrated and thought maybe my design skills are just bad. Just at this moment, I got an Email from Josh, selling his new web design course. I thought – Yap, this is what I need!
And I did not get disappointed!
I just finished the course and I learned so much good stuff which I can apply directly!
Normally it took me ages to find and develop the right design – with Joshs structured way of designing websites I feel much more confident now, starting with just white space.
Especially Joshs Formula for the Landing-Page which can be applied to nearly every page, gives me a good coarse structure.
What I also like is threw Joshs webdesign course, I can explain myself and clients much better, why I designed stuff as I did. This is very valuable when communicating with clients.

It is loaded with so many design foundations and tips for taking your website builds to the next level. Josh also provides real world examples of his past designs to give you context and application of what he teaches.
The website design build that he does in the course is very detailed and informative, especially to a beginner like myself. He doesn’t just show you how to design and build a website, but WHY he uses certain principles and methods as well.

Even though I have run a web design studio for over 15 years, I find Josh’s tutorials to be insightful and inspirational. It is always good to refresh one’s skills and also to learn new things. Never boring, Josh is on point, and explains things in a way that just makes absolute sense. I would highly recommend this and all the other courses on Josh’s site, not only to newbies, but to skilled professionals who are looking at honing their skills. Great resources and a focus on providing a better service to web clients makes this my go to place for Divi tutorials and courses.

Get this course!!!
Web design resources for beginners are maddening. Some books and courses cover things like visual hierarchy and typography, but at the end you’re still thinking, “OK, but how do I build a website?”
Josh covers principles of graphic design too, but what sets his course apart is how he ties everything together into a usable resource. In addition to basic graphic design, you’re going to learn:
•How to effectively structure webpages
•How users interact with webpages so you can design with usability in mind
•How to adapt your sites to mobile
•All kinds of cool tricks to implement
In the page build at the end of the course, you follow along as Josh builds a basic site while putting the principles you learn into action. Josh uses Divi, but I was easily able to follow along with Elementor and even learned some cool tricks about Elementor that I don’t think I’d have learned any other way.

I have always felt like I understood good design kind of intuitively but as I started out my web design business I wanted to make sure I knew WHY certain designs were good and others not. Not only for myself but also to explain my choices to clients. This course has been great to learn to think critically about design everywhere you see it with the basic design principles Josh teaches. I also got a lot of value out of his lists of design resources. If you want to save tons of time scouring the internet and trying to teach yourself – take this course!

This course really helped me stretch my understanding of the creative aspect of the web design process. The technical side comes much more easily for me. There were so many tips and tricks on how to create a website that stands out from the crowd, as well as many links to resources that I will be coming back to time and again in my design process. I wanted to take this course because after years of updating WP sites for non-profits where I volunteered, I really wanted to learn how to build my own sites. It was so helpful for me to build along with Josh and be able to go back and pause as I was building.
This course helped me feel more confident as my volunteer roles have turned into paid jobs, and now referrals, so now I really want to ramp up my business so I can build and manage sites myself from the start. This was organized way for me to sit and go through the process and that was invaluable!

I used to be a Web Designer but gave up my career to be a full time mum. Now, after 10 years I have decided to start up again as a freelancer. I started to do a lot of research, doing some other courses, building some sites. However, so much has changed and when I began to dip my toe back in the water I was overcome with fear saying to myself “There is no way I can do this, I will never be able to catch up with new processes, technology, methods etc”. I gave up!!
However, I stumbled across Josh’s courses and read the great reviews. I figured I should give it one last shot.
I am so glad that I did!!
I decided to start from the beginning and go back to basics with the Web Design course. I have thoroughly enjoyed this course, Josh goes into a lot of detail but explains everything without adding confusion. I have found a new confidence and Im ready to start the next course!

In the first iteration of my online business, I offered Techie VA and Web Design services and even evolved into teaching online entrepreneurs how to create their own business websites all in the span of 4 years. Then I took a break from all of that for about 3 years.
In 2019, I decided to get back into online business, and after going back and forth on what to offer, by the end of the year I finally decided to offer web design services and do it as a full-time business this time.
In my process of preparing to do so, I want to “do things right this time”. So I began researching not only business information that was specifically geared towards web designers (which Josh also remedied for me in his business course), but I kept feeling like I needed to enhance my overall design skills so that I could feel more confident in knowing how to create “great design” for my clients moving forward.
In all of my research, even from other web designers who teach entrepreneurs how to create their own websites, no one else is teaching basic design principles. Even people who have courses on how to build a full-time web design business (which are few and far between), again, design principles seem to be lacking. Most everyone focuses more on sales and marketing strategies instead of taking the time to break down basic (yet incredibly powerful) design principles and skills that are fundamental in successful web design. (I mean, if you know how to market and make sales, yet your designs are lackluster, what are you really even doing?)
So to have found Josh, who not only teaches the fundamental design principles that are so important but also incorporates conversion design to ensure we can offer high-quality services and develop high-value skills is incredibly invaluable, to say the least.
I feel so lucky to have found this course at a time when I needed it most. I have no doubt that I will be able to offer incredible design that will not only wow my clients, but bring them even more and better business in the future due to these newfound skills I’ve just learned.
The fact that Josh takes the time to break down basic design and conversion design principles, and then implements them in an extensive website build to ensure we get exactly how to use these skills when it comes to not only creativity but also the strategic mindset behind it all, is beyond what I could have hoped for in a course. The only thing I wish is that there was more of it!!

I’ve been in web design for over 20 years and I got this course because I’m always looking for new ideas and resources to create sites that not only look good but actually do what they’re supposed to do, make sales, get leads and inform. This web design course that Josh put together does all that and more.
I really liked the Basic Design Principals section. Josh really over delivered especially for the price. I liked it so much I just ordered his css course and can’t wait to start it. This course gives you those design principles. Josh takes you through the thought process when working on designing a website. He untangles the complexity of arranging the content and shows you how to bring the client’s service or product to the foreground. The course is easy to follow and has extra resources.
