Duovir N Tablet
Description:
Duovir N Tablet is a fixed-dose combination of three antiretroviral medicines: Lamivudine, Zidovudine, and Nevirapine. It is used in the treatment of HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) infection as part of antiretroviral therapy (ART). This combination works by inhibiting the action of reverse transcriptase, an enzyme essential for viral replication, thereby reducing the viral load, enhancing immune function, and slowing the progression to AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome).
Therapeutic Uses:
Treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults and adolescents
Used as part of combination ART to improve patient immunity and clinical outcomes
Mechanism of Action:
Lamivudine and Zidovudine are nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) that block HIV replication by incorporating into viral DNA and terminating its synthesis.
Nevirapine is a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) that binds directly to reverse transcriptase, preventing viral replication through a different mechanism.
Packaging:
Available in standard tablet form, commonly packed in 10x10 strips (100 tablets per box) or customized according to regulatory and market requirements.
Note:
Duovir N should be used under the supervision of a healthcare professional. Regular monitoring of liver function, blood parameters, and viral load is recommended during therapy. This medication is not a cure for HIV but plays a crucial role in long-term management of the infection.
