Labetalol 20 mg/4 mL Injection IP is a beta-blocker and alpha-blocker combination medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), especially in emergency situations. Labetalol works by blocking both beta-adrenergic receptors (which help reduce heart rate and blood pressure) and alpha-adrenergic receptors (which help relax blood vessels), resulting in reduced blood pressure and improved blood flow.
This injectable form of Labetalol is often used in hospital settings to manage hypertensive emergencies (severe high blood pressure) and acute episodes of high blood pressure during surgery or in patients with conditions such as pre-eclampsia or postoperative hypertension.
