WHY THIS BOTTLE?
"Raisins Gaulois" is Marcel Lapierre's, one of French natural wine pioneer, intro wine. Bright red fruits and juicy thanks to carbonic maceration, it's a young take on Gamay coming out of Morgon (a prestigious wine subregion in Beaujolais). It is bottled as 'vin de France' but is easily equivalent to a great Beaujolais-Villages or good Morgon.
The Lapierres age their wines on fine lees for at least nine months in oak foudres and futs ranging from three to thirteen years old. These wines are the essence of Morgon: bright, fleshy fruit with a palatable joie de vivre that was undoubtedly inherited from their creator.
